Netflix has dropped the official first look of Swedish series “The Unlikely Murderer” on Saturday, 28 August 2021. The Unlikely Murderer is a five part Netflix series which is based on true crime case on 1986 Sweden Prime Minister Olof Palme murder that people intrigued for more than 34 years. This crime drama show is inspired from an award winning book of same name by Thomas Pettersson.
The plot of the unlikely murderer series is set on 1986 February; Sweden Prime Minister Olof Palme decided to go to watch film in grand cinema with his wife Lisbeth. This is last minute decision that he was going without the bodyguard protection. The couple enjoy the movie in the theatres and walked towards the home while chatting and peeking into the shops from window. After the midnight 11:21 PM, a lone gunman approached towards the couple and shot Olof Palme at point blank range and secondly shot at Lisbeth. Lisbeth was slightly wounded in this attack but Palme was pronounced dead at the arrival of hospital.
This Scandinavian TV Show will feature the fictional interpretation of Stig Engström who was probable murderer and manged to escape from justice to his death though luck, combination of audacity and perplexed police force. We get some answers from this Netflix series like who is Stig Engström? How could the police let him get away, despite being on his track?
Actor and Comedian Robert Gustafsson will be playing the role of Stig Engström who is well-known for his performance in “The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out Of the Window”. According to Robert, “It’s an exciting challenge and a great responsibility to portray Stig Engström, but also, in a way, a form of therapy.”
The Unlikely Murderer is set to be premiere only on Netflix streaming platform in 2021. This crime drama Series is directed by Charlotte Brändström and the script is written by Wilhelm Behrman and Niklas Rockström.
